Frank Heutz was born in the Netherlands in 1989. He received his master’s degree in molecular engineering (cum laude) from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2012. He did his master’s thesis on the cyclometalation of substituted phosphinines through C-H activation in the group of Prof. Dr. D. Vogt under the supervision of Prof. Dr. C. Müller. Afterwards he accepted a Ph.D. position at the University of St. Andrews under the supervision of Prof. Dr. P. C. J. Kamer and started his research, funded by the SusPhos network, in February 2013. His project focuses on combinatorial methodologies for the solid-phase synthesis of bidentate phosphorus ligands. Subsequently, the synthesized ligand libraries will be screened in various asymmetric catalytic reactions in order to find active, selective and recyclable immobilized catalysts and, in the end, will hopefully lead to a more sustainable use of phosphorus containing ligands.
